AC Milan unwilling to pay Chelsea target Callejon’s release clause
AC Milan are reportedly unwilling to pay Jose Callejon’s release clause at Napoli, with Chelsea understood to be pondering a swoop for the player.
It was reported earlier this week that ahead of his impending appointment at Stamford Bridge, Maurizio Sarri is keen to reunite with Callejon in West London this summer.
The Spanish winger could be set for an exit from the Stadio San Paolo and according to claims from Italy, he had emerged as a target for Gennaro Gattuso’s AC Milan.
However, as per a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, via Calciomercato, Milan are not willing to meet Callejon’s release clause of €23 million and are aiming to negotiate a cheaper deal with Napoli.
It’s understood that Chelsea have not yet pursued their interest in Callejon, but with Milan seemingly reluctant to splash the cash on the ex-Real Madrid player, the Blues could have an opportunity to swoop in and secure the winger’s signature if Sarri is appointed.
