Rugani’s agent says Chelsea move is delayed by Sarri’s announcement

Daniele Rugani’s agent has dropped a major hint that the Italian will join Chelsea this summer, but a deal is being held up by Maurizio Sarri’s appointment.

Speaking to Football Italia, Davide Torchia confirmed that negotiations would be able to advance once the former Napoli boss is announced as Antonio Conte’s replacement.

It’s obvious to say that the Sarri issue must be resolved first. After that, we can proceed with the negotiations and make them more or less concrete.

An official confirmation is imminent from Chelsea, following a series of talks with Napoli over a fee for Sarri.

Rugani has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, having worked with Sarri when they were both at Empoli.

The defender has fallen out of favour at Juventus, where he struggled to hold down a regular place in the side.

Game time was unlikely to increase in the new season, with the Old Lady plotting a move for promising Ajax youngster Matthijs de Ligt.

The report claims that a deal to bring Rugani to London could set the Blues back around €40 million.
