Gonzalo Higuain’s agent has denied that the player will join Chelsea from Juventus this summer.
It was reported recently that the Blues had agreed a big-money deal with the Italian giants over the transfer of Higuain. These claims have since been refuted by the striker’s representative and brother, Nicolas.
Speaking to Sky Italia, as cited in a report from the Mirror, Higuain’s agent discussed how happy his brother and client is with his career at Juventus.
At the moment we haven’t spoken to any other clubs, as we have a three-year contract with Juventus. He is very happy in the city, at the club, with the coach and the tactical system. All these things people talked about other clubs are just rumours, we haven’t spoken to anybody. At the moment, he has three years on his contract with Juventus.
Chelsea want to sign a new striker this summer and with the expected arrival of former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri not far away, it was believed that Higuain was a top target for the Blues.
However, it seems Chelsea will be hard pressed to secure a deal for Higuain, who remains an important player for Max Allegri at Juventus.
Everyone knows his rapport with Sarri is wonderful and he sees him as a football father, but as far as I know, Sarri hasn’t even signed for Chelsea yet. Secondly, Gonzalo is happy in Turin and hasn’t received any indication from Juve, so I see no real chance of leaving.
Competition for striking places could be difficult with the Serie A champions next season, however. It’s been reported that they are closing in on a stunning £88m deal for Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.
