Wilmar Barrios reportedly set for January switch to Chelsea

Chelsea have reportedly sealed a deal to sign Colombian international Wilmar Barrios from Boca Juniors.

It’s claimed by Argentine journalist Luis Fregossi that the holding midfield player will be announced as a Blues player ahead of joining the club in the January transfer window next year.

The midfielder has had a strong year so far and has impressed for both Boca Juniors and his native Colombia.

The former Deportes Tolima star was an impressive player for Colombia in their recent World Cup campaign but could not prevent his side from suffering a premature exit from the competition.

Colombia were eliminated at the round of 16 stage as England narrowly defeated them via a penalty shootout.

Barrios has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks but it seems Chelsea could beat them in their pursuit of the 24-year-old midfielder.
