It seems Chelsea will not be backing down without a fight, as Liverpool close in on a deal to sign Alisson from AS Roma.
The Reds are believed to have submitted a world-record bid for the Brazilian international as they look to finally remedy their long-standing goalkeeping woes.
Chelsea, however, have also been perennially linked with a move for Alisson, who could be regarded as a contingency plan if Thibaut Courtois does indeed complete a summer switch to Real Madrid.

The race for Alisson appears to be between the Blues and Liverpool, with Chelsea’s Merseyside counterparts leading the race as things stand.
However, according to fresh claims from the Mirror, Chelsea are willing to gazump Liverpool in their pursuit of Alisson and are prepared to spend a huge sum of £70 million on the Roma star.
Liverpool’s bid is understood to be valued at £62m, but Chelsea are looking to pip Jurgen Klopp to the signing of the goalkeeper and will make significant efforts to lure him from Roma.
It is, in fact, claimed by the Mirror that the Blues are sending out representatives to Italy as they look to thrash out a deal for Alisson.
