Barcelona were forced to turn their attention to Malcom, rather than Willian when Chelsea turned down a cash and player offer, including Andre Gomes.
Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona were keen to snap up the Brazilian from Chelsea this summer and even offered the Portuguese midfielder in return.
Chelsea rejected the offer and Willian now looks set to stay at Stamford Bridge, despite appearing keen to make the move happen.

The Blues were believed to be open to selling the player to Barcelona, with Manchester United also interested.
The club were said to be holding out for as much as £70 million from Barcelona.
Malcom looked set to join Roma, but Barcelona swooped in at the last minute to hijack a deal.
Barcelona have been looking to offload Gomes this summer in an attempt to trim their wage bill, with both Arsenal and Spurs also named as potential destinations for the midfielder.
