Chelsea are at the front of the queue in the race to sign Bernard this summer, according to a report from Brazilian news source Globo Esporte.
The Blues have been previously linked with a move for the player and it seems they could be closing in on a move, with Globo Esporte naming them as the current favourites in the race to secure his signature.
It’s claimed in the report that Bernard has already received a huge amount of 12 offers from potential suitors this summer, with the Brazilian playmaker available on a free transfer.
Bernard opted against renewing his contract with Shakhtar Donetsk beyond this year and is, therefore, free to move as he pleases.
The 25-year-old is understood by Globo Esporte to also be keen on the prospect of a move to Stamford Bridge. It’s claimed that Bernard admires London as a city and is also a fan of the club itself.
Chelsea will need to fend off competition if they are to land Bernard but it seems as though the ball is now in their court, with Maurizio Sarri keen to accelerate the club’s summer dealings.
