Chelsea are reportedly ready to make Eden Hazard their captain heading into the 2018/19 season as they look to keep hold of their star man.
Speculation has been persistent regarding Hazard’s future at Stamford Bridge, with Real Madrid having reportedly expressed a concrete interest in signing him this summer.
However, Chelsea remain determined to keep hold of Hazard for as long as they can, with the Belgian’s current contract at the club expiring in the summer of 2020.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, the Blues’ new manager Maurizio Sarri is weighing up his options ahead of next season, with a change of captaincy on the cards.
It’s stated in the report that Chelsea perceive the role of club captain as something that could convince Hazard to snub interest from Real this summer, with an added responsibility given to the winger ahead of next season.
Other alternatives are being considered by Sarri, though. Jorginho, Cesc Fabregas and Cesar Azpilicueta are three names under consideration for the captaincy, as per the report.
