Chelsea target Kovacic turns down United move

Manchester United have joined Chelsea in the race to sign Matteo Kovacic from Real Madrid.

Marca reports that United are keen to bring the player to the Premier League in a €60 million deal.

However, the former Inter star is not interested in joining United, according to the report.

The player still has his heart set on a move away from Madrid this summer but is ready to turn down an offer to Old Trafford.

Kovacic doesn’t believe that Manchester United suit his style of play, which will come as a blow to manager Jose Mourinho.

Chelsea have enquired about a deal to sign the Croatian this summer, with Maurizio Sarri as a long-term admirer.

The report claims that it is not out of the question for Kovacic to stay at Madrid beyond the summer transfer window, with Julen Lopetegui hoping to do enough to convince the player into staying at the club.
