Former Chelsea boss Mourinho backs Sarri to succeed

Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho believes that Maurizio Sarri will succeed at Stamford Bridge following his arrival from Napoli.

Football Italia claims that the Manchester United boss expects to see the Italian do well in London.

Speaking while away on United’s pre-season campaign, he gave BeIN Sports his thoughts on the arrival of Sarri.

I don’t know him. When I was in Italy from 2008-10, he was not in Serie A. I never met him or played against him. I just follow football and lately the good work he did with Napoli.

In England, all the good managers have the desire to come. It’s a crazy competition with a high level so I think every manager has the dream to come so he had the chance to come.

He has a fantastic team, fantastic players and squad – I think he has conditions to do good work.

Mourinho has hit the headlines this summer already for his disruptive pre-season campaign, which has not gone to plan.

The former Chelsea boss has bemoaned the lack of transfers arriving through the doors at Old Trafford this summer.

Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant have all joined the club so far this summer.

Chelsea and United are scheduled to meet in the Premier League in October later this year.

Mourinho will be hopeful of getting one over his former side after the Blues beat United in the FA Cup final last season.
