Chelsea make Jack Butland their number one target to replace Thibaut Courtois

Jack Butland has emerged as Chelsea’s preferred option to replace Thibaut Courtois if the Belgian leaves Stamford Bridge this summer, according to Sky Sports.

The Stoke City star would likely jump at the chance to rejoin a Premier League club after the Potters relegation but Chelsea will still need to agree a fee with Gary Rowett’s side.

The 25-year-old was once seen as the next big thing in terms of English goalkeepers, but an injury and subsequent loss of form saw him lose the role as the national team’s number one to Everton’s Jordan Pickford.

However, Chelsea seem to be confident enough in Butland’s ability and seemingly think that he is the right man to replace Courtois if he does manage to secure a move to Real Madrid.

The Belgian’s family still live in the Spanish capital and he is so keen to make the move that he went AWOL from training earlier today.
