Paris Saint-Germain are turning their attention away from Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, with a summer deal for the Frenchman now considered very unlikely.
A report from PSG correspondent Jonathan Johnson wrote for ESPN that a move for seems improbable, as the Premier League transfer window closes on Thursday afternoon and Ligue 1 deadline concludes at the end of the month.
A homecoming for the World Cup winner looked convincing to onlookers after French victory in Russia, but now the Ligue 1 holders will hold negotiations with their in-house defensive midfielder, Adrien Rabiot.
Kante made his first appearance for Chelsea after the World Cup in their final pre-season game against Lyon on Tuesday night.
Chelsea have already proposed a new contract worthy of £290,000 a week to persuade the French International to extend his stay.
The new deal will make the former Leicester City midfielder the highest paid player at the club, topping the wage currently taken home by Eden Hazard.
