Daniele Rugani’s agent has confirmed that Chelsea lodged a ‘really big bid’ to sign the Italian defender this summer.
Speaking to RMC Sport, as reported by Football 365, Davide Torchia explained that Juventus do not want to sell the defender and with that in mind, refused any approach from the Blues.
Juventus have no desire to sell him, not even for a high price which, among other things, no-one in Italy could afford. However, the player has never asked to leave. Only when a very important offer arrives is it normal to listen, but Juventus have rejected all kinds of offers to keep him in Turin.
Chelsea made a really big bid, which was close to being unthinkable for me, but Juventus didn’t relent.
Chelsea were heavily linked with a move for the player earlier in the transfer window, prior to Juventus and Milan’s swap deal involving Mattia Caldara and Leonardo Bonucci.
The Blues has reportedly agreed personal terms with Rugani, who was a player that Maurizio Sarri worked with during his time at Empoli.
However, following Caldara’s move to Milan, the Old Lady were refusing to sell two of promising young defenders in the same window, which saw the deal fall through.
