Abraham close to sealing loan switch to Aston Villa

Young Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham is close to securing a season-long loan move to Championship side Aston Villa, according to a report on ESPN.

Abraham was keen to stay at Stamford Bridge and fight for a place in the first team squad but manager Maurizio Sarri wants to send him out on loan.

The Englishman was not included in both of Chelsea’s matchday squads for their opening two Premier League games and it looks like he won’t be getting his chance with the Blues yet.

Abraham spent last season on loan at Swansea City and managed to get his name on the scoresheet multiple times, but Sarri has not seen enough from him to guarantee him first-team action.

Villa are hoping that Abraham can provide the firepower that they need to return to the English top flight after narrowly missing out last season.

Abraham did feature for the Blues in the Community Shield against Manchester City but he has been a peripheral figure ever since.

Sarri also loaned out Michy Batshuayi to Valencia earlier in the summer and it leaves him with only two recognised strikers, Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud.
