Ike Ugbo joins Scunthorpe on loan

Chelsea striker Ike Ugbo has joined League One side Scunthorpe United on loan until January.

As confirmed on Scunthorpe’s official website, the 19-year-old will join up with the first-team squad and will wear the number nine jersey.

The forward spent time in the Championship with Barnsley and in League One with the MK Dons last season and he’ll spend the first part of the current campaign with The Iron.

The teenager has been at Chelsea since he was 10 years old but is yet to make an appearance for the club’s first-team, despite turning professional in 2015.

Speaking to the official website, Ugbo said:

I’m really pleased to sign for Scunthorpe and I can’t wait to start. I think it is a strong team here and good enough to go up this season. Hopefully, I can help with that.
