Leicester continue to ponder Drinkwater move

Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater remains a target for Leicester City, according to a report from the Express.

The Foxes were believed to have been keen to re-sign Drinkwater during the latter stages of the summer transfer window. However, they saw their attempts to recruit the England international rebuffed.

Drinkwater has had little fortune since his move from Leicester to Chelsea last year and appears to be set for an early exit, with the Blues willing to listen to offers for the midfielder.

Leicester are claimed to still be tracking Drinkwater’s situation at Stamford Bridge, as Maurizio Sarri continues to overlook him for his starting line-ups.

Since his arrival in West London, the new Chelsea boss has opted to generally utilise a midfield trio consisting of N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and either Ross Barkley or on-loan Real Madrid star Mateo Kovacic.

The competition for places in midfield appears to have all but spelled the end for Drinkwater at Chelsea, with Leicester now pondering over a mid-season swoop for their former star.
