Chelsea and Spurs miss out as City land promising keeper Gavin Bazunu

Promising young Irish goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu has joined Manchester City after turning down offers from both Chelsea and Tottenham.

Sam Wallace of The Telegraph reports that City have agreed to pay £420,000 for his services after being impressed with his development at Shamrock Rovers.

After breaking into the first-team squad in Ireland, some of the Premier League’s big boys took notice of Bazunu’s development.

Tottenham were hopeful of signing the player, while Chelsea also invited him to look around the club’s facilities in a bid to sway him to Stamford Bridge.

Brighton, Arsenal and Celtic are all believed to have offered the player a trial in the past, while Liverpool were reportedly keeping close tabs on him.

The player now looks set to remain in Ireland for the time being and could join the club as early as January.

At the age of just 16, Bazunu is certainly considered as one for the future.
