Chelsea rejected offers from Championship club for teenager Ampadu

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri rejected offers from Derby County for teenage midfielder Ethan Ampadu during the summer transfer window, according to a report on the Derby Telegraph.

Sky Sports presenter Scott Minto revealed that Championship club Derby were interested in signing Ampadu but Sarri blocked all their offers.

The manager rates the Welshman very highly and believes that he can have a part to play for the Blues this season.

The 17-year-old was showered with praise for his impressive performance for Wales during their 4-1 victory against the Republic of Ireland in their UEFA Nations League opener.

When speaking about Ampadu, former Chelsea player Minto said:

I know Derby tried to sign him on a season loan, I also know that Maurizio Sarri said no.

Ampadu only made one Premier League appearance for Chelsea last season and is yet to feature under Sarri in the league this season.

Derby manager Frank Lampard had his eye on a number of Chelsea youth players to take on loan to the Championship but failed with his attempts of luring Ampadu to the Rams.
