Willian reiterates his desire to stay at Chelsea for years to come

Willian has once again reaffirmed his commitment to the cause at Chelsea following rumours linking him with a move away in the summer transfer window.

In an interview with the Blues’ official club website, the Brazilian reflected on his five years spent at Stamford Bridge following his move in 2013. In doing so, the winger took the opportunity to insist that he is as happy as ever to be playing for Chelsea.

A lot of people they say a lot of things in the press, but I never said that I want to leave Chelsea, never. Always I say that I want to stay at Chelsea as long as possible, and I am happy to stay here.

Willian was courted by Barcelona in the summer as they looked to add further quality to their wide options. However, after seeing their efforts rebuffed by Chelsea, they turned to Willian’s compatriot Malcom, who joined from Bordeaux.

Real Madrid were also heavily linked with a swoop for Willian, while Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho was said to have reignited his interest in a reunion with the player.

Contrary to these links, though, Willian stayed put at Stamford Bridge and appears to be looking ahead to the future in West London.

I am very happy to be here five years. I have won titles and played a lot of games with a lot of happy moments, and a few sad moments as well but that is part of football, but these five years have been very good for me and I am proud to be a Chelsea player.
