FC Porto look set to hand Alex Telles a new and improved contract at the club following reported summer interest from the likes of Chelsea.

The Brazilian had been touted as a potential target for the Blues as they looked to strengthen their options at the back. Liverpool and PSG were also linked with the player.

However, Porto remained keen to retain Telles’ services and according to other reports in the summer, rejected a bid worth €35 million from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

Telles is a key man for the Liga NOS giants and according to claims from Portuguese news outlet A Bola, he will be rewarded with a contract extension at the club.

Porto are believed to be confident of tying up a deal to keep Telles at the club for the foreseeable future, with negotiations continuing to progress in a positive fashion.

The Portuguese giants are also ready to ensure that if Telles is to leave in the coming years, a premium price will be required. A Bola claim that a buyout clause fixed at €50m will be set in the Brazilian’s new deal.

This sizable price is sure to put off some potential suitors, with Chelsea’s summer interest evidently coming to no fruition.

Would Telles be a good signing for Chelsea?
