David Luiz is certainly enjoying life under Maurizio Sarri and he’s delivered a brutal dig at former boss Antonio Conte with his latest comments.
Speaking to Chelsea’s website, Luiz has been discussing the differences between Sarri’s reign at the club, compared to his Italian predecessor.
It is fair to say the Brazilian did not hold back as he was full of praise for the former Napoli boss.
First of all he’s a great person, great as a human. I think his philosophy to live life is already great because he wants to enjoy every day, he wants to be happy and he wanted to take this opportunity to start one more chapter in his life.
I think that is one of the most important things in life: when you love to do something, when you’re happy. So, I believe in this philosophy, and then after that he is a great coach. He wants to play with the ball, he wants to play with intensity, to work on the details and to give us all the information he can about the next game and the opponent.
Luiz fell out of favour under Conte and the two clearly did not see eye-to-eye throughout his second season at Stamford Bridge, despite playing a key role in their title-winning campaign.
There are still concerns over Luiz’s long-term future at Chelsea, with Sarri keen to strengthen defensively in the upcoming transfer windows.
However, Luiz has been a regular in the Blues’ defence so far this season, starting alongside Antonio Rudiger in a back-four system, with Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta occupying the full-back roles.
