Sarri reveals that Abraham made late decision to leave

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has revealed that Tammy Abraham’s decision to seek a loan exit from the club came extremely late in the transfer window.

The Blues youngster was courted by a number of clubs throughout the summer but opted to seal a season-long loan move to Aston Villa in the closing stages of the window for EFL clubs.

Abraham spent the 2016/17 season on loan at Bristol City before getting a regular taste of Premier League action with Swansea City last season on a temporary basis.

Sarri, as quoted by West London Sport, was led to believe that Abraham had no intentions of departing Stamford Bridge in the summer initially. However, the Blues boss has revealed that, two days before the window slammed shut, Abraham had a change of heart.

Cardiff City were keen to take Abraham on a loan deal but Chelsea rebuffed their efforts early on in the summer. This left Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock angered, given Chelsea’s decision to send the England Under-21 international out to Aston Villa on loan.

Sarri, however, knocked back Warnock’s claims that Chelsea showed a lack of class in their dealings.

Tammy, until two days to the end of the market, wanted to stay. In the last days, there was an offer from Aston Villa and Tammy sadly decided to go there so I don’t know what to say about it.
