Hazard asked to be left out of PAOK clash
Chelsea forward Eden Hazard asked to be left out of the squad to face PAOK in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Maurizio Sarri has revealed that Hazard told him he needed a rest after his frantic start to the season.
Hazard was in the headlines last weekend after a man of the match performance against Cardiff in the Premier League.
He scored a hat-trick as Chelsea came from behind to win 4-1 against Cardiff at Stamford Bridge – Willian scoring the other goal.
The Belgian winger has been involved in seven goals in five games this season, with five goals and two assists.
Speaking to The Daily Mail, Sarri said this:
He told me that after the national team and after the match against Cardiff he was a little bit tired. I thought it was better to stay in Cobham, to have training and to rest.
The report also claims that Brazil international David Luiz has also been rested, with the central defender having played every minute of Chelsea’s Premier League campaign thus far.
