Chelsea’s flight home delayed due to bad weather

Chelsea missed their flight home to the UK on Thursday night because of the bad weather conditions.

Sky Sports report that the Blues were scheduled to fly home late on Thursday night, but the flight was delayed as a result of the adverse conditions.

The news is a blow to Maurizio Sarri’s men, who will see their preparation time for Sunday’s game against West Ham cut even shorter.

Chelsea had been expected back in London by Friday afternoon, but it could be even later now.

The Blues face West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon as they look to continue their fine start to the season.

Chelsea made a comfortable start to their Europa League group with a 1-0 win over PAOK on Thursday night.

Willian scored the only goal of the game in what was a relatively routine performance for Sarri’s squad.

The victory on the road sets the Blues up nicely for two home games in their next two group stage matches.
