Besiktas hold talks with Giroud after making offer

Besiktas have reportedly held talks with Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud over a potential January deal.

According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, as cited on Turkish Football, Besiktas are willing to pay €5 million to sign the former Arsenal man.

The club are looking to replace Alvaro Negredo, who left for UAE side Al Nassr recently.

The report claims that Giroud’s agent has given the deal a thumbs up ahead of the new year.

Giroud has emerged as Chelsea’s first-choice striker this season under Maurizio Sarri, with Alvaro Morata continuing to struggle in front of goal.

It is highly likely that Chelsea would require a striker to be signed during the January window to allow Giroud to move on, with both Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi away from the club on loan.

Giroud originally joined Chelsea on an 18-month contract from Arsenal, which also reportedly included the option of an extra year.
