Lampard wants Chelsea loan duo to play in Carabao Cup clash

Frank Lampard is hoping that Chelsea will allow youngsters Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori to play during their Carabao Cup meeting.

The London Evening Standard reports that Lampard is hoping that two players will be available for selection, with the two sides set to meet at Stamford Bridge later in this month.

It is a conversation to be had and I think it is Chelsea-led because they are their players.

I am pretty sure it will be Chelsea’s decision. I think everyone knows what my decision would be, so it will be up to them.

Both Mount and Tomori played a key role in Derby’s victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Chelsea duo, who joined the club on loan earlier this summer have quickly cemented themselves as key figures in the Rams squad.

Most modern-day loan deals now include an agreement that stops players from playing against their parent club, however, this can be altered via discussions between both clubs.

This is not the first time this has happened to Chelsea. During Thibaut Courtois’ time at Atletico Madrid, the two sides faced each other in the Champions League and the La Liga side were forced to negotiate with the Blues in order to allow him to play.
