Maurizio Sarri confident Europa League clash won’t affect Southampton fixture

Despite enduring a tough Europa League clash against Hungarian champions Vidi on Thursday, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri believes it will not affect his side against Southampton, Sport 360 report.

Spaniard Alvaro Morata’s second half strike against Vidi was enough for the Blues to go top of Group L after two rounds of fixtures.

Chelsea’s previous Europa League fixture against PAOK in Greece resulted in the Blues dropping their first points in the league three days later against West Ham United with a 0-0 stalemate at the London Stadium.

However, talking ahead of the fixture against Southampton on Sunday, the 59-year-old believes that making more changes against Vidi could prove crucial come Sunday afternoon.

This match we have changed eight players. In Greece I think only five. I hope we can do better this time.

Sarri will more than likely bring back star man Eden Hazard, Olivier Giroud and Jorginho for the trip to St Mary’s after the trio were rested, with Willian and Pedro in competition to claim the third and final attacking spot.
