Rudiger provides injury update after withdrawing from Germany squad

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has played down any concerns over his injury after withdrawing from the German national team.

There were concerns over the German’s fitness after he pulled out of international duty, but the defender himself has provided an update.

Rudiger has been a mainstay in the Chelsea defence under Maurizio Sarri and took to Twitter this afternoon to confirm his situation.

The defender is now set to miss games against the Netherlands and France during the second international break of the season.

Sarri has preferred to use both Rudiger and David Luiz in his back four this season, meaning the likes of Gary Cahill, Andreas Christensen and Ethan Ampadu have found minutes hard to come by.

After confirming that he will be training during the international break, Chelsea will hope to have him back in time for the game against Manchester United in just under two weeks’ time.
