Colkett returns to Chelsea for injury treatment

Charlie Colkett has returned to Chelsea for treatment on an injury sustained on loan at Shrewsbury Town.

The Shropshire Star reports that the player has returned to Cobham and will miss this weekend’s game against Fleetwood.

The injury is not considered serious and the player is likely to return to Shrewsbury in the not too distant future, despite falling out of favour at the League One club.

Colkett joined Shrewsbury on loan during the summer in a bid to get some regular game time under his belt and get his stalling career back on track, however, he has not started for the club since the first day of the season.

The midfielder missed a lot of football last season after returning to Chelsea from a loan spell in the Eredivisie early.

The once-promising midfielder has struggled to replicate his form at a senior level after failing to impress during his time away from the club.

Colkett has endured spells on loan at Bristol Rovers, Swindon, Vitesse and now Shrewsbury.
