Galatasary want Cahill as Maicon replacement

Gary Cahill is a man in demand across Europe, even if his number has been called sparingly this year by Maurizio Sarri.

Reports in Turkish outlet A Spor suggest that the Blues’ club captain has been identified as their key target for the January transfer window.

Maicon almost left Galatasary at the conclusion of the summer transfer window, ultimately opting to stay in Istanbul for Champions League football.

However, the Brazilian’s form has suffered. Falling down the pecking order, prospect Ozan Kabak has been preferred to the 30-year-old in recent matches.

Eager to bring in another experienced central defender, it is understood that Galatasary have made Cahill their first choice to make the trip to Turkey.

The skipper joined Chelsea in 2012, and has won every domestic and European honour he could have won in the six years he’s spent in the capital.

Manchester United have also been linked with Cahill, who could yet opt to remain at Chelsea.
