Cahill lined up by West Ham ahead of January move

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has reportedly emerged as a January target for West Ham.

According to claims from the Mirror, Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini has identified the experienced defender as a target as he looks to add further quality to his options at the back.

West Ham appear to have settled on a central defensive partnership this season, consisting of Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena, both of whom arrived at the London Stadium as new recruits in the summer.

However, Cahill has seemingly emerged as a target for Pellegrini, as he looks to add further quality to his defensive ranks.

Turkish giants Galatasaray have been heavily linked with the 32-year-old but it seems they will face competition from West Ham in the race for Cahill’s signature.

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has overlooked Cahill for much of the season so far, prompting the defender to seek a move away from Stamford Bridge as he looks to secure first-team football elsewhere.
