Ampadu was forced off early in the second half after suffering an injury, in what is the latest blow to the youngster’s development at Stamford Bridge.

The midfielder has impressed for his country this season and looks set to cement a place in Giggs’ squad going forward.

However, the Welsh international has found game time hard to come by at Stamford Bridge this season under Maurizio Sarri, despite impressing during pre-season.

The former Exeter City man is very highly thought of at Chelsea, but the Italian’s lack of rotation domestically has cost him minutes in the Premier League this season.
