Rugani’s contract talks delayed until December

Chelsea target Daniele Rugani has seen contract talks at Juventus delayed until December with concerns over the Italian’s future.

Calciomercato report that the Old Lady are yet to decide on whether or not to hand the player a new deal.

Rugani has found game time in Turin hard to come by after seeing a summer move to Chelsea fall through.

Juventus were expected to hand the player a new deal after the summer transfer window, but with his current deal running until 2021, there are now doubts over a new contract.

The Italian was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, but the departure of Mattia Caldara to Milan meant that the club were unwilling to lose two young defenders during the same window.

Rugani remains on Chelsea’s radar, with Maurizio Sarri reportedly shortlisting both the Juventus man and Alessio Romagnoli as potential January targets.

The Chelsea head coach has reiterated his desire to strengthen in January after repeatedly questioning his squad’s ability to defend in key situations this season.
