Shevchenko tips Hazard to win the Ballon d’Or

Andriy Shevchenko has tipped Chelsea star Eden Hazard to go on and win the Ballon d’Or in the near future.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Goal, the former Ukraine international was quizzed over his thoughts on Hazard’s chances of winning the illustrious individual award.

Hazard’s form for Chelsea in the early periods of the season has prompted claims that he could be in with a chance of pipping the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to awards in the future.

Belgium international Hazard has found the net eight times in all competitions for Chelsea this season and has also contributed with three assists.

Shevchenko feels Hazard is now ready to kick on and push the best players in the world for the Ballon d’Or.

Why do attackers always get individual awards? Because they are responsible for finishing attacks. People like to see goals scored. Hazard is a phenomenal, fantastic player, but he wasn’t getting those 20-25 goals per season.

This season he already has eight, so he’s on the road to that number. He has every chance of winning the Ballon d’Or.

Hazard, who continues to be linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, will be out to progress with Chelsea this season as they look to challenge for the Premier League title.
