Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck has warned Real Madrid that his side “will do what we have to” in order to convince Eden Hazard to remain in London.
Speaking to the Financial Times Future of Football in Doha, as reported by the Metro, the Chelsea man explained how the Blues plan to keep hold of their star player.
Every Chelsea fan in London and the world loves Eden Hazard. He’s not only a great footballer but I think he’s a wonderful lad.
We want him to stay and we will do what we have to do to entice him to say. Let’s see how it goes between now and the end of the season.
Hazard reignited rumours that he would move to Madrid when he said that he wanted to join the Spanish side to stand a chance of winning the Ballon d’Or whilst at some stage of his career.
But he also ruled out a move in January suggesting that he wants to leave Chelsea on good terms as he did with previous club Lille, committing himself to helping his current side with their goal of winning the Premier League title this season.
Real Madrid are currently struggling in both La Liga and the Champions League and have been heavily linked with a move to sign Hazard in an attempt to get their season back on track.
Reports in Spanish newspaper Marca suggest that they may be willing to pay anywhere up to €100 million and with Hazard’s contract set to run out in 2020 it may be time for the Blues to cash in.
