Romagnoli confirms he had Premier League offers in the summer

Chelsea target Alessio Romagnoli has confirmed that he had offers from the Premier League over the summer.

The Italian defender has revealed that he had the option to move to England but opted to stay with AC Milan this season.

Romagnoli was given the captain’s armband earlier this year and has attracted interest from a host of top clubs in Europe.

Chelsea were heavily linked with the central defender over the summer, although they were never able to secure a deal. Maurizio Sarri highlighted him after managing against the Milan captain last season in the Serie A.

Speaking to Calcio Mercato, Romagnoli said this:

The renewal? A logical choice. I am fine with my teammates, with Gattuso, with the fans. There were offers from the Premier League, but I feel at home here.

I debuted against Milan in Serie A. Maybe it was my destiny. I like Milano, I only miss the sea of Neptune, maybe I will hang a picture of it in my room.

The 23-year-old has made over 100 appearances for Milan since his move from Roma in 2015. He has also been capped eight times by Italy at senior level.
