Belgium Under-21s manager Johan Walem believes that Charly Musonda Jr.’s arrogance is holding back his development as a footballer.
Musonda was considered to be a major loan coup for Celtic when he signed for the Glasgow club in January 2018, on an initial 18-month loan deal from Chelsea.
Despite initial excitement, Musonda’s spell at Parkhead turned out to be a disaster, with the 22-year old only making eight appearances before both Chelsea and Celtic agreed to bring the short-term spell to a close.

Between February 18 2018, and the end of the 2017-18 season, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers only played Musonda for a total of four minutes in the Scottish Premiership, which raised question marks from the fan base.
Having now joined Chelsea feeder club Vitesse Arnhem on loan, Musonda’s attitude has been blamed by a former coach for limiting his development and holding him back. Talking to HLN, as reported by HITC, Walem said:
Charly did not show up for the qualifying match against Turkey in August last year, so I went to see him at Chelsea, the problem is that Charly has so much ambition. Charly thought he would be called for the A-team.
He wants to be the biggest, the prettiest, the best. He may be more of an ‘8’ than a ’10’ – as a playmaker he wants to do too much, then he demands everything. Charly must first and foremost find peace and confidence in his head.
