Willian insists Chelsea must help Hazard
Willian has insisted that Chelsea’s stars must contribute with more in the final third to ensure that the team does not become over-reliant on Eden Hazard.
The Belgian international has been in superb form for the Blues this season, netting eight goals in all competitions and contributing with a further three assists.
However, it’s believed that the winger has been nursing a minor back problem in recent times, raising concerns that he could face a short spell on the sidelines.
It’s now likely that Hazard will be unavailable for Chelsea’s Europa League fixture against BATE Borisov during the week. His fitness will also be monitored ahead of the Blues’ next Premier League clash against Burnley.
Willian, as quoted by the Evening Standard, discussed Hazard’s influence this season and called on the rest of the Chelsea squad to step up to his level.
We know how important Hazard is for us, but we have a great team with a lot of quality players. Sometimes he can’t score or make an assist, that’s why we need the whole team. Sometimes he tries and it doesn’t work.
The other players have to work together to try and do something with each other.
Blues boss Maurizio Sarri will be desperately hoping that Hazard’s injury is only a minor one as he bids to help Chelsea continue their unbeaten start to the new season.
