Chelsea could face Premier League competition in their pursuit of Alessio Romagnoli, the Daily Mail reports, with Manchester United also keen on a January move for the player.
The Blues have been heavily linked with Italy international Romagnoli as Maurizio Sarri looks to add further defensive quality to his options.
Romagnoli, who is the current captain of AC Milan, penned a long-term deal at San Siro in recent times but has been touted with an immediate exit, as Premier League clubs reportedly circle.

It’s claimed that Chelsea sent scouts to observe Romagnoli’s performance in the recent Milan derby, in which Inter emerged victorious after Mauro Icardi’s late goal handed them three points.
Romagnoli will certainly be hard to prise away from Gennaro Gattuso’s side, however, given his growing importance and influence in the club’s long-term plans.
Nevertheless, it seems Milan will face an uphill battle to retain the services of their star defender, as Premier League giants Chelsea and United ponder respective January swoops.
