Tottenham are reportedly in pole position to beat Chelsea to the signing of Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek.
According to reports in Italy from Calciomercato, Mauricio Pochettino’s men are leading the way in the race to sign the midfielder.
Both Spurs and Chelsea have been heavily linked with the player, as they both have him shortlisted as a potential replacement for their respective ageing stars.
Reports have claimed that Chelsea see the Ajax youngster as a long-term replacement for Cesc Fabregas, who is coming towards the end of his deal with the Blues.

Meanwhile, Spurs see the Dutchman as a replacement for Moussa Dembele, who is attracting interest from Inter and the Chinese Super League.
Bayern and Roma have also been linked with moves for the player, who has impressed in the Champions League this season.
Van de Beek’s performances have not gone unnoticed as he continues to impress in the Netherlands.
