Loftus-Cheek insists he ‘loves’ Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has insisted that he “loves” the club and is willing to continue fighting for his place in the team.

As quoted by Sky Sports, the England international responded to claims that he should depart Stamford Bridge in the quest of first-team football on a more regular basis.

Loftus-Cheek has featured regularly for the Blues this season in cup competitions but has yet to start a Premier League match despite his recent run of form.

The midfielder netted his first senior hat-trick for Chelsea in their comprehensive Europa League win against BATE Borisov and also recently scored in the Blues’ 4-0 win at Burnley in the Premier League.

Loftus-Cheek, 22, discussed his limited opportunities in West London but was clear in his intentions to push on under Maurizio Sarri. The midfielder said:

I hear it a lot, and I can see why people are saying that, because I’m 22 now and haven’t got too many Premier League starts to my name.

I haven’t played too many minutes, whether it be in the Premier League and the Championship, and at 22 it’s not seen as enough by some people. I do hear it. I love the club and I love Chelsea, I want to play for Chelsea.

Loftus-Cheek will be keen to feature this weekend when his Chelsea side come up against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.
