Sarri says Chelsea won’t sign any players in January

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has claimed that his side will not sign any new players in January.

Despite signing big names like Jorginho and Kepa Arrizabalaga in the summer,

The Italian is quoted by The Independent as saying that he would stick with the squad he’s got for the time being.

Sarri said:

I have to think I only have to help these players to improve. It is too easy to go into the market for every problem. I think we need to improve and we need to improve with these players because they can improve.

I have to think to improve my players. It is my work, I think. The market, there is the club. I can say to the club my opinion about what I think I need but my job is to try to improve my players.

Just over a year removed from a Premier League title, you would be hard-pressed to find someone denying the talent at Chelsea.

An astonishing start to the season has seen the Blues remain unbeaten through the first ten games of the campaign. Only two points off joint-leaders Liverpool and Manchester City, Chelsea have proved they belong in the upper-echelons of the table, if they needed to prove that at all.

Sarri’s claims that no new signings are set to arrive in January may prove to be an elaborate smokescreen, and certainly something I wouldn’t put past the eccentric tactician.
