Azpilicueta admits Chelsea plan to leapfrog Man City in December

Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta has warned Manchester City that the London club are aiming to leapfrog them in the Premier League title by December 8th, according to a report on the Evening Standard.

Both teams have four league fixtures before they come up against each other and if they win all four in the meantime, the Maurizio Sarri’s side will be able to go above City in the table by winning them.

Both sides are still unbeaten in the league this season and City currently sit two points ahead of Chelsea.

Azpilicueta said:

It’s in our hands. Obviously, if we don’t drop points, we have the chance to do it (on December 8). We know that to get to that chance, you have to get the three points in games like we had against Crystal Palace.

We cannot drop points, we need to work hard, keep improving and let’s see on that day if we have the chance to do it. We are happy with our results. We know that we can still do better and the League is very tough – you have to fight for every game.

This table at the moment is something that we want – to be at the top at the end. We know that it’s going to be difficult, but we know how to win the Premier League and we will try.

Azpilicueta already has two title victories for Chelsea, the first in 2015 and the second in 2017, and he is eager to make it three this year.

matchday.
