Chelsea target Joao Felix sees release clause doubled with new deal

Chelsea will be forced to pay in the region of €120 million if they want to sign Joao Felix from Benfica.

Portuguese outlet Record claim that the player has put pen to paper on a new deal with Benfica and his release clause has doubled from €60 million to €120 million as a result.

Felix has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea after reports identified him as Maurizio Sarri’s ‘dream signing’.

Benfica have been keen to get the player’s long-term future secured amid growing interest around the continent.

Some of Europe’s biggest teams are interested in signing the player, who is widely regarded as Benfica’s best young prospect. Felix has been ever present in the first-team squad this season.

Interest in Felix is only likely to grow in the coming months, but Benfica will be boosted by the news that any potential suitors will be forced into forking out huge sums of money for his services.
