Chlesea have a long-standing interest in Juventus defender Daniele Rugani and tried to sign him last season.
However, Juve refused to sell the Italian international after they let Mattia Caldara move to AC Milan.
Chelsea are still interested in the 24-year-old but they’ll now face competition for his signature from Roma.
Calciomercato report that Roma are already planning to make a move for the defender in January, but it remains unclear if Juve will be willing to let him move.
However, some good news for Chelsea is the fact that the relationship between Juventus and Roma is not good at all. Juve refused to sell Juan Cuadrado Roma and in return, they decided to block the champions’ move for midfielder Kevin Strootman.
Chelsea’s defence looks much stronger than many people anticipated at the start of the season but strength in depth is needed and Rugani could be the man to provide it.
