Mateo Kovacic has sent a cheeky dig at Liverpool’s title chances, claiming that his fellow countryman Dejan Lovren could cost them this season.
According to 24sata, Kovacic has cheekily suggested that his international teammate Lovren will be Liverpool’s weak-link, however, in their quest for a first league title since 1990.
There is clearly a close bond between the Kovacic and Lovren, whose Croatia side reached the World Cup final earlier this year.
Liverpool will not be England champion. Why? Well because they have Dejan Lovren.
Ironically, there is a feeling among many Liverpool supporters that Lovren is a player with mistakes in him, with a squad role best for him moving forward.
The imperious form of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez has often kept the 29-year-old out of the team, but Jurgen Klopp will still see him as an important player.
The Reds are among the favourites to rival Manchester City for the Premier League title this season, while Chelsea are widely considered as outside contenders.
