Christian Pulisic told to reject a move to Chelsea

Borussia Dortmund forward Christian Pulisic has been advised to snub a move to Chelsea and join Liverpool instead.

Former England international, now ESPN pundit, Paul Mariner, has told the American star that a move to Chelsea will lead to his career stalling, whereas Liverpool would be a great place for his to continue his development.

Pulisic has two years left on his contract at Dortmund but is likely to leave in the near future as he is, up to this point, refusing to sign an extension, so the German’s are likely to sell whilst his value is at its highest.

Chelsea are the favourites to complete a £70m move for the 20-year-old but Mariner thinks he should reject a move to London in favour of a switch to Merseyside.

He told ESPN:

No, don’t do it (go to Chelsea). It’s the wrong club for him – he will just eventually go out on loan. Is he going to get into the team on this present form? No, he’s not. If you were to ask me a club he should go to? Liverpool.

When asked if Pulisic would get into Liverpool’s team, Mariner said:

Not yet but Klopp understands what it takes to mould a player. He knows Pulisic well. They would nurture him and the way that Klopp puts his arm around players. I think it would be a fabulous move for him.

Dortmund are adamant that Pulisic won’t leave until the summer at the earliest but there is still plenty of speculation that he could make a move in January.
