Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has admitted that he has been “surprised” by the good form of centre-back David Luiz so far this season, according to a report on Football London.
The Brazilian international has been one of the Blues’ best players this season and has cemented this starting position under Sarri.
The resurgence of the defender has surprised many people, especially after he was nowhere near as good under the previous Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.
When speaking about Luiz, Sarri said:

David Luiz surprised me with his awareness and intelligence.
Luiz has been a key component of this Chelsea side that has started the league season unbeaten.
The 31-year-old had a reputation of being a rash defender for several years, but it seems that he has left that aspect of his game out and began to focus on helping the team.
