Maurizio Sarri was said to be extremely keen on the prospect of landing the forward, with Chelsea in need of extra reinforcements in the final third.
However, given the striker’s age and the huge financial cost it would have taken to bring the player to the Premier League, Sarri’s interest was not reciprocated by those behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge and he would go on to join the San Siro outfit.
