Chelsea can’t be a one-man team with Hazard, according to Hasselbaink

Former Chelsea star Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has fired a warning to the Blues, claiming that they cannot afford to be a one-man team with Eden Hazard if they want to be successful under Maurizio Sarri this season, Goal report.

The former Netherlands striker spent four successful years at Stamford Bridge, scoring 70 times before leaving the Blues in 2004 for Middlesbrough.

Current star Hazard has been Chelsea’s standout performer under new boss Sarri, with the Belgian providing a club high four assists and eight goals so far after a number of match winning displays.

Despite the Blues remaining unbeaten under Sarri so far, many have claimed that it is down to the brilliance of Hazard and have called for his team-mates to step up their performance levels if Chelsea are to win a trophy this season.

And talking to 888sport in the week, Hasselbaink admitted that the Blues need to be cautious in becoming a one-man team, relating back to Liverpool’s previous season, where Mohamed Salah scored 44 goals.

For me it’s a very bad thing if you become a one-man team.

Hazard is magnificent and has been exceptional but if you look at last season with Liverpool, Salah scored so many goals and they became a one-man team as well.

They didn’t win anything. If you are a one-man team you won’t win any trophies so others are going to have to step up. They have to step up and help him.

The 27-year-old’s future at Stamford Bridge remains unclear, with Real Madrid continuing to monitor the Belgian’s situation, who’s contract is set to expire at the end of next season.
